As an amateur historian and voracious reader I am certainly aware of the historic implications of a major political party nominating a woman for President. I was similarly aware of the dynamics eight years ago when an African-American was nominated, and later won, the Presidency.
As just another white guy, I won’t pretend to understand the emotional connection this creates for some…but I can acknowledge it exists. And I know emotional connections are strong.
My fear is that just as emotional connections prevented some from taking a sober look at the candidate in question eight years ago, it is having a similar impact today. Genitalia and melanin content are poor factors upon which to base choices. Please, dig a little deeper. That’s all I ask.
